ST. JOHN BOSCO AWARD RECIPIENT

Each year we present the St. John Bosco Award to recognize a person who “has selflessly served the mission of Catholic education and led others in the spirit of Don Bosco.” This year’s recipient embodies that description completely.

Joseph Ammirati has spent over thirteen years in selfless service to Angelus Academy. He began as assistant teacher in the preschool and kindergarten programs, and has taught physical education and computer classes, middle school history and math. Joe was Vice Principal, and then Principal for seven years.

However, none of these tasks can explain his true contribution to the school and to the many, many students and adults who have come within his in presence. In the true spirit of St. John Bosco, Joe has been a father-figure and a role model to kids of every background and has taught the children by his example as well as his words. He has reminded all of us that the ultimate goal of an Angelus Academy education.

Joe now serves as Angelus Academy’s Director of Facilities and Operations. He and his wife Kathleen are the parents of four children, three of whom are graduates of Angelus.

We are grateful to Joe for his witness of humble and untiring service, and are proud to offer him the ninth annual St. John Bosco Award.
